Clipping mistakes that get clips rejected
The ten mistakes behind most rejections, from missing hashtags to watermarks to bought views, each with the two minute fix. Read it once before your first campaign.

A rejected clip is a wasted 30 minutes and, worse, a wasted hit if it was climbing. Almost every rejection on The Creators Club comes down to one of these ten. Each has a fix that takes less time than reading this.
1. The required hashtag is missing
The brief said to include #brandname and you forgot. This is the most common rejection and the easiest to prevent.
Fix: keep a notes file per campaign with the hashtags and the caption format. Paste it every time.
2. Footage from outside the campaign
You clipped a different episode of the same show, or a moment from the brand's other channel. The brand can only pay for clips of the footage it put in the campaign.
Fix: only cut from what the brief links to. If you want to clip something else from the same creator, ask in the campaign or clip it outside the campaign for yourself.
3. The watermark
You exported from TikTok with its logo on and posted that to Reels or Shorts. Some briefs ban watermarks outright, and the other two apps push watermarked clips down anyway.
Fix: export a clean file from your editor and upload it fresh to each app.
4. Music the brief did not allow
The brand said no added music, because a song can get its clip muted or removed in half the countries it wants to reach. You added a trending sound.
Fix: read the music rule. When in doubt, speech only.
5. The product or logo is cropped out
The brief said the product has to be visible, and your 9:16 crop cut it off the edge.
Fix: check the crop on the moments where the product is on screen. Move the frame, or add a small still of the product in a corner if the brief allows it.
6. Too short
The brief set a minimum length and your clip is 11 seconds.
Fix: check the minimum before you cut. A strong 11 second moment usually has a good 20 seconds around it.
7. Duplicate moment
Another clipper submitted the same 30 seconds, or you submitted the same clip twice by mistake. Many brands allow one submission per moment because two identical clips reach the same people.
Fix: pick moments others will not. The obvious best moment gets ten submissions; the third best moment gets one. Submit each link once.
8. A caption that makes a claim the brand cannot make
You wrote "cures anxiety" or "doubles your income" in the caption. Brands have legal teams and cannot have that said about their product.
Fix: describe what happens in the clip. Let the clip make the case.
9. Posted from an unverified account
The link is to an account you have not verified under Settings. The platform cannot tie the clip to you.
Fix: verify every account you post from. It takes a few minutes per account and it is permanent.
10. A view pattern that looks bought
The count jumped by 150,000 in an hour with 30 likes, or dropped between two reads because the platform removed views, or landed exactly on the cap and stopped. The clip gets flagged, the brand sees the flag, and most reject it.
Fix: never buy views. If a clip got flagged and you did nothing, dispute it and say what happened. Flags are for a person to decide, not an automatic rejection.
Before you post, every time
- 1Required hashtags pasted in.
- 2Footage from the campaign link.
- 3Clean export, no watermark.
- 4Music rule followed.
- 5Product or logo visible where the brief asks.
- 6Over the minimum length.
- 7A moment nobody else picked.
- 8Caption describes, does not claim.
- 9Posted from a verified account.
- 10Each link submitted once.
That takes a minute per clip and prevents almost every rejection there is. If one gets through anyway, dispute a rejected clip explains how to make the case.
